Hello, I am happy you are here
My Background
Let me tell you a little bit about myself to help you get to know the therapist behind it all. I am a Florida native, who did a brief stint in Texas a few years back, but I am back in sunny Florida for the foreseeable future. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Florida State University, Go Noles! And I obtained my Master of Arts degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling from the University of Central Florida. I have several years of experience providing therapeutic care to adolescents, adults, couples, and families seeking help for a wide variety of issues from depression and anxiety to bipolar and borderline personality disorder.
My Philosophy
My role as a therapist is to walk alongside my clients, to provide them support through difficult times, and to help them meet their goals and achieve a life they value and desire. Due to my background in marriage and family counseling, whether we are working individually or in couples/family, I always analyze the role relationships play in our lives. I believe our connections with others, whether it be friendships, family, romantic partners, co-workers, serve a big impact in how we navigate through life.
My Approach
In terms of approach, I am a very eclectic therapist that pulls from Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and some Relational therapies. I am a talk therapy therapist through and through. I like to utilize our space as a sounding board, where we talk through different situations and volley off of each other different ideas. I provide practical tools while also helping my clients set intentions for changes they wish to see in their daily lives. I always say therapy is the best form of accountability because you always have someone there to check in on you and remind you of your goals. I never want therapy to feel like a chore so I am not big on assigning homework assignments and doing a bunch of structured activities. I more want us to focus on setting goals, changing habits, and being intentional.
Personal Fun Facts
Just some personal facts about me: I am a mom to a spunky 1 year old, going on 15 I swear. My ideal day is curling up on the couch and reading a good book. I am a Taurus queen and believe we should all celebrate our birthdays the whole month, not just one day. I might not always practice what I preach but I do try my best; we are all human okay!
